Erbium and Ytterbium co-doped phosphate glass is one of the best suitable materials for lasing at 1.54m, a wavelength which is well used in‘eye safe’applications. Also, features of the Er glass includes high optical quality, slope efficiency and wide pump band. Since its outstanding properties as a laser medium, there are several manufacturers having developed an extensive range of Eye Safe Erbium Glass Transmitters for use in different kinds of Laser Rangefinders and Medical Equipment. This range of glass laser transmitters covers Flash Lamps and Diode types of pumping, a broad spectrum of Output Energy, Repetition Rate, Pulse Width, conductive and air-forced cooling and using Passive and Active Q-switches. The Erbium glass nanosecond laser transmitter manufacturing facilities include three levels of Clean Rooms: ISO 7 (Class 10.000), ISO 6 (Class 1.000) and ISO 5 (Class 100), Laminar Boxes, numerous standards and special Electro-Optical instruments and jigs. These facilities include a separate department that specializes in manufacture of unique active Q-switch based on FTIR principle.
